Died 6/9/1941 at 309 Park Cottages Barston, Hampton in Arden. He was a Policeman/firewatcher according to his death cert. I'm guessing he was born in 1894 as his death certificate states he was 47 at death. Grandmother – Dorothy Knowles (known as Dolly) born 1914, in Old Whittington, Derbyshire, died in 1972 in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. My grandmother Dorothy disappeared, after the birth of Derek, (born 26/1/1941) even Dorothy’s own mother thought she had died as she apparently cashed in her life insurance. Dorothy then went on to marry William Teager, 16 July 1955. she also went on to live with/marry ? Haywood and had another 2 children, she had them all fostered/adopted. (obviously didn’t like children). On Derek’s birth cert it says Dorothy Woods formerly Knowles, father Albert William Woods, occupation of father police constable of Oak Villas, Warwick Road, Knowle, Solihull. On my mothers birth cert (June) it says father William Woods (no mention of Albert), mother is Dorothy Woods formerly Knowles, occupation of father Groom (domestic) 59 Maplewell Road, Woodhouse Eaves. Signed William Woods at same address. I’m assuming its Loughborough, as that is the registration district on the certificate. Hope this is a bit clearer for you. Thank you Wendy

Dorothy died in 1972, she was born in 1914 in Derbyshire and died in Bridgnorth, Shropshire. she did marry after Albert died in 1955, a William Teager, but it is Albert (middle name William) I'm trying to trace, can't find anything on him at all. 	Danielle Yes i would advise you to sent for the marriage cert.There is also the poss that Patrick came over from Ireland in early 1850's??then he wouldn't show on the 1841-51.Getting the cert may give more clues and would be worth getting. Michelle

Member Since: October 2007 Posts: 219 Send Message	Hello Michelle Unfortunately Catherine Laughlin (Mcgrale) died in 1860 so she is not on 1861 census with her husband Patrick/Peter, he is born about 1827 in Ireland and he remarried in 1862 to Margaret Clifford. I cannot seem to find anything on 1841 or 1851 for either Catherine or Patrick/Peter. Does this mean I need to send off for marriage certificate? Thanks for your help so far. Kind regards Danielle

I can't see a marriage yet but your Grandmother may have been married before?Do you know when she died?or her birthyear?Albert could have been born anyway and birthyears on death certs are not always accurate sadly.I will see if i can find anything else.
