hi Michelle
i'm looking for info on my wifes great ganddad and great grandmother.

his name is Thomas Dwyer born c: 1857 in Ireland and she is Mary ? born c: 1863 in Ireland. They had a son Joseph Dwyer born c: 1887 in Ireland and then their next child was my wifes granddad Francis Dwyer born 1889 in Horwich, Bolton Lancs.
So this means they came to England between 1887 and 1889. The 1901 census has them living at 7 York Street, Ince in Makerfield, Wigan.

I don't know if you track them by the passenger lists to the uk.

Here goes...

Ann Shaw was baptised at Hull Holy Trinity 6/4/1801. Her parents are listed as Nathaniel and Margaret Shaw. I am looking for their marriage / birth records and have so far not found anything. Ann had 4 more brothers and sisters the earliest being baptised 1798 so I guess the wedding would have been before 1798.

Jane Woodward was born c1801 in York (according to the census) unable to trace anything about her birth or parents etc. She married a William Gray in Hull 2/8/1819. I have also been unable to find anything for his birth other than it was c1796 (per 1841 census)

That's all i've got on them.

This is the poss Frances who married Edwin Cutler

I must assume the family were still abroad in early '61 as Ernest was born in Aldershot during last quarter of '61 according to Free BMD.

Are you certain they were in UK for the 1861?Children were born in Calcutta and then a child born 1863 in Surrey.So its poss they arrived between 1861-63 into England?

hi Michelle,
James Inglis married Marion Muriel Somerville 7th July 1874 at Stewarton,Eddleston,Peebles.He puts cotton merchant as his occupation ,age 30 and born Biggar.His parents are James Inglis and Agnes Clark;hers are John Somerville and Isabella Melrose. I can't find anything more on them-no children,not in the 81 census,no death reg.
I've just gone back on Scotlandspeople and found his second marriage 17th July 1877 to Euphemia.It is definitely the same fellow.He is widowed on the new marriage reg. so that's sorted ,Michelle,but can you still help me look for the son,also James, born around 1877 in Peebles in the 1901 if you have a moment.Many thanks for all your help,

Can you find the following family in the '61 & '71 census please.

Henry Hanson born 1822, Doncaster.
Catherine Hanson, born 1825, Ireland.
Henry Kay Hanson, born 1856, Calcutta.
Ernest Hanson, born 1861, Aldershot.

Henry was still in the army (53rd Regt) in 1861, possibly a yeoman warder in Tower of London in 1871.
