I believe that Lucy remarried in 1862 to Henry Ainsworth in Blackburn.

Her age on the 1871 is listed as 50 but the image has 57 and the 7 is crossed through and a 0 is placed over it...maybe cos her husband was a little younger than her?Henry has a son John from his previous marriage and Lucy's son Henry is on the 1871 also

1) A little unclear was Golston listed as the maiden name for Elizabeth McCannah?

2) Was the surname McCannah mentioned on the birth cert of your Grandmother?

3) Was father William listed as deceased on the marriage cert?

4) Was her address the 1 you listed or was that her husbands address?

5) Who were the witnesses to the marriage on the cert?

Re James & William Witten.
You probably won't remember as you must be looking up hundreds of names, but you found a death for a James Witten, I took your advice and ordered the certificate even though it was a long shot. It was my James, still haven't got his place of birth but now know he was born in 1781 that's assuming they got his age right at death.

Thanks for your kind offer of help.

I have hit a brick wall trying to find James Irving Gallie born 13/09/1860 in Annan, Scotland in the 1881 and 1901 census. I have found him on the 1891 England Census (RG12/2899 page 24) living with his wife Janet in Liverpool and the 1871 England Census (RG10/3806 page 48) living with his parents Charles and Agnes in Liverpool. But no sign of him in 1881 and 1901, I hope you can help.

Similarly I cannot find William Charles Gallie born 25/08/1858 in Liverpool, brother of James, in any census except the 1871 England Census living with his brother and parents as above. Again, I hope you can help me solve the mystery.

Thank you for your kind offer, this is a bit of a strange one. My gt grandmother on her marriage Certificate in 1879 was Elizabeth Mary Ann McCannah age 19 m James Buckner soldier Pioneer 60th Rifles - address Queens Road Portsea Hants, her father was William McCannah - Shoemaker. On my grandmother's birth cert Elizabeth gave her maiden name as Elizabeth Golston(w). After marriage she travelled with her husband to Ireland (with the army) and returned to Reading by the 1891 census.

Her death cert is on its way from GRO but I am unable to find anything on her or her father prior to her marriage. Anything you can find out about her or the rest of her family woud be great.

Found this poss marriage for the couple...Although it states his 1st name as Eli and 2nd initial as S...presuming Stanley,maybe he went by his 2nd name which was very common.My own Grandmother lived her whole life using her 2nd name!but married using her 1st name.

Dorothy Skinner married Eli S Parsons in 1934 Q3...Jul,Aug,Sept in Portsmouth,Hampshire Vol 2b Page Number 1572
