I did find a poss marriage for Henry and Martha and her maiden name was Scott and this was for 1836...so i looked for Mary c1832 and i believe she may have been born out of wedlock?

The 1861 sees Benjamins age a bit out.It could well be it was written as 21 on the image and looks like 27...census writing is always tricky to make out!Mother is Martha on the image and not Marsha and both Sarah and Benjamin listed as single.

Thanks for getting back to me so promptly after your holiday, hope you had a great time.

In answers to your questions I hope the following will help;

Elizabeth listed her maiden name as both Golston and McCannah. The Golston was on my grandmothers birth cert and McCannah on her marriage cert with her father called William McCannah, she also stated she was a spinster. So for some reason she used both names. Many years ago my mum's cousin did some family history and Elizabeth also registered her mother's birth with a maiden name of Golston. Sadly both my mum and cousin are now deceased.

On her marriage cert it is not shown as William McCannah as being deceased he was a shoemaker. I believe Elizabeth was illiterate an X was used instead of her signature.

The address on the marriage cert must have been hers as James Buckner gave his as Parish of St Thomas Winchester - I think he may have been in the army at the time of his marriage.

The witnesses who I think were also illiterate were Sarah Pope and William Failons (I think writing quite hard to decipher).

On Elizabeth's death cert in 1919 her age was 56 which would have made her 15 on marriage and not 19 as stated on the cert.

The 1911 census gives her age as 50 married for 30years and born in Southampton.
