Hi Michele,

Thank you for all of that but I don't think that is the Richard Stevens i am after.My Richard Stevens was born in 1866 and by 1901 he had my grandfather,Alfred , who was one at the time.I do know his wife's name was Camela Tansley and I think they married in Malta ,and I now know his father's name was William who was a Master Mariner in the navy.Richard's mother's name was Margaret and he had 6 sisters.

I don't have access to Irish records.Were the family in Ireland?or were they in England or Scotland?

If they are in Ireland best person to try is Inis for Irish records.He has a thread on the Records Office Board i believe.

Hi Michelle

I am looking for information on William Henry Chester, apparently b. about 1854/1855 in Ramsgate, Kent. Parents on his marriage certificate were Thomas Chester and Sarah Fontains, although this could be a misspelling and could also be Fountain or La Fontaine. I can't find any record of such a marriage in my searches or a birth/christening around this time or a record in the 1861 census. William emigrated to New South Wales (don't know when) and married Annie Louisa Campbell there in 1884. Two of his 10 children had Italian names - Roberto and Mercenia. A hint to the mother's ancestry perhaps? His living grandchildren do not recall any mention of him having siblings or any talk of his past at all. Probably why his parents' names are not even on his death certificate.

Any info would be greatly appreciated.
