Thank-you for looking for John E for me - I had written some notes a while back and our findings are almost identical which I find reassuring to say the very least!

I now have this vision of an 1800's version of Red Stewart! This chap being chased around and hooking up with various younger very beautiful blondes! Grief doesn't bear thinking about!

I've copied off all your notes and ordered a marriage cert and death cert. I also had a long chat to my Mum last night and it turns out that when her father passed away she found loads of really old flutes and sheet music (far too old to have belonged to him) which sadly got thrown away back then, but it does seem to tie in fully doesn't it. He (my Grandad) was quite musically talented too and could turn his hand to playing pretty much anything he chose but was taught to conduct as a child (she doesn't know who taught him) so more and more fits in the jigsaw of the Allibones!

Got one name that's been elusive in census searches, wondering if you can find her:

Sarah Jane Woods, b. 1856 (BMD Reg, Dec 1856, Plympton St. Mary, Devon)

She should be somewhere in the 1861 and 1871 census but I can't find her! No idea who her parents are. She married in 1878 to Alfred Stitson (she was hard to find then as they are mis-recorded as HITSON and STETSON in 1881, 1901 etc.)

Facts i have 1881 census James was living in port Glasgow as a slater, son Alfred wasn't living with him. then found Alfred living at rope yard rails London in 1891 says he was born Glasgow possible port Glasgow. Alfred married Jessie chambers 1892 on marriage cert he's father James Ritchie occupation slater. Alfred then had son Alfred James Ritchie 1892, born woolwich. please please any help with census before 1891 mother? or any records of family together as mother unknown.Thank you for taking time to read my message.

John Manners b 1838 Constantine, Cornwall was my Gt Grandad. He married Martha Bonniston on 27.11.1878 in Sheffield . I cant find him on the census before 1891 when he was in Andover.
