hi rachel , sorry i forget to give the details.its not a hassle .

the arch deaconry of lewes , i think ( i will found for sure ) it was mainly for under age marriages , then they would need a lic to marry, usually the lic is , and yours i believe was because he wasnt from lewes , usually the arch gives info like ages, wid, has occupations sometimes.
the marriage can take place the same day but in a diff parish, or it can be a few days after the lic was granted.i was a bit confused with yours as the marriage seems a long time later, the only thing i can think of is that maybe the marriage date has been added wrong, i will try to find that too. might take me a few days.
let me know if i can help with anything else...jenny

Hi Jen,
Thanks so much for your help, found out another surname in my ancestory which is fantastic!
Now I may be a bit dense but I don't understand the reply that you gave me for William Lewry, could you please explain to me as there appears to be two marriage dates between William and Sarah Ede. Your message was"archdeaconry of marriage lic
20 nov 1774 william lewry (widr farmer Keymer) = sarah ede ,(30 sp Cuckfield).,(ss=sponsers)ss/ W.L.; Edw.DENMAN innholder Lewes

now the marriage date of above
14 sept 1801 william lewry (keymer) =sarah ede (otp, by banns) Witness wit; John WIMBLE, lewes sub castro".
Sorry for the hassle - I am still a newby at this! and thanks again for your help.
Regards
Rachel.

As always you're a star!

I do have another question though!

I have a Charles Hook marrying a Hester/Esther in 1672 in Rotherfield.

I can't for the life of me remember where i got the info from... i don't even have her last name! lol. I think i've probably made i mistake.

Could you see if that one's there please?

also.. what does OTSP mean?

Thank you again!!!

Hello Jen!

me again!

could you see how many HOOK marriages there are in Frant and Mayfield please?

If there's too many, i'll go though them one by one. I don't want to take up your entire evening!

There's 2 marriages i've found on IGI and they're both in Lewes. i wonder if they're AD marriages?

Richard Hook and Catherine Browne 26-5-1702

Charles Hook and Elizabeth Clarke 12-10-1736

Many Thanks! (as always)

Jen
Could I just have the other marriage references re John Knigt and Sarah as i think the 1748 one is too far away. The marriage would have been in Slinfold or near Horsham, West Sussex. The 1738 one sounds the most likely.
Thanks
Mark

Hi Jen
Thanks for the look up offer.
My g g grand father was Francis Edward Mitchell but he was often referred to as Edward on the census's and christenings. He married Mary Margaret Jupp sometime between 1826 and 1834. Grandad was born in Horsham and Mary in Slaugham. I have searched and researched for over 2 years but I cannot find a marriage for them.

Many many thanks for your time
Wendy
