Murray family Kilmacolm Scotland or Ireland?

I have a James Murray that married Ann McQuilkin in Port Glasgow Scotland in 1855. Their marriage record list Ann as being born and registered in Antrim Ireland in 1835. James lists himself as being born and registered in Kilmacolm, because he is listed in Scotland's 1841 census as living in Kilmacolm Village, I assumed he was born in Scotland. Most of the census list him as being born in Ireland. I just looked at the 1841 census again and relized that his father (William) lists his place of birth as being Refrewshire Ireland. I have not been able to to find any birth records for any of the children through Scotland's People, is there a way to check records in this time period in Ireland to see if that is where the family is from: 1841 Scotland census shows:
William Murray 30
Ann Murray 35
William Murray 12
James Murray 6
Catherine Ann 3 all born in Ireland, living in Kilmacolm Village. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Cathy
