Hi Julia, never mind, thanks for giving up your time to research for me, it's much appreciated.

Can you tell me where you got the CD from and if it's possible to get one for around 1850- 1870 as I have another ancestor who worked in India for a time and I want to find out when he went and returned.

Thanks, LOu

Hi Lou

Thanks for that, really helped to narrow things down.

Unfortunately it also ruled out any possible matches!!

Julia

Hi Julia, Yes I do .

His occupation was Engineer or Machinest. I think he came back to England in March or April of 1898 as his father was ill. His father died in the April Q so I would assume that Cornelius would have returned not long after his father died.

I think he might have returned alone as he had several children so wouldn't have been able to pay passage for them too.

Thanks again, Lou

Hi Lou

Nothing obvious.

There are no Cornelius Baker records at all, but he may be there just with initials, do you have an occupation for hime, as that may narrow the search down..

Hi Julia,

Would you mind checking under the name Dench for me?

Catherine met her future husband Frederick Dench on board the Commonwealth in 1914, she later married him in Scotland 1918.

Many thanks
Pauline

Hello Julia, Thank you for your kind offer. Would you be able to find a Catherine J Lamb born abt 1893 Scotland travelling from Victoria, Australia 1914-1918, possibly with a child, This would break down a major brickwall for me.
Many thanks in advance

Hi Julia,
I`m afraid I do not know the ship`s name, just that they came from the eastern bloc landing in Dundee and met and married in Scotland.
Traced them from them to present day only knowing the `ship` story from an old family member on my wife`s side.
We were unable to get any more details due to a strange unwillingness to divulge any more details on that side of the family!
Discovered a few skeletons in the tree, but nothing horrifying.
.......aren`t old folk strange!
Did find an unknown Great Uncle who died at Flanders in WW1 and had been totally forgotten about which was rather a shame.
Thanks for trying.
Frank
PS Nothing against old folk as I`ve passed 55 now!

Shemp

There are lots of John Callaghans, none with th at birth date though.

He would only appear on these lists if he'd got onto a ship that docked in Ireland on its way to UK.

I dont think there are any records available for Ireland to England jpurneys.

Hi Julia,
Anything on Anthony Redek app 1886 and Ursula Kufetute app 1881 married May,1902 in Bothwell, Scotland.
Came from Lithuania and Bellarus (White Russia) on the same ship and the story goes that they were heading for USA but were dissembarked at Dundee, Scotland.
Afraid I do not know where they sailed from or when but no sign of them in 1901 Scottish census
Apparently there was a program on TV about the ship but I missed it!

Thanks,
Frank.
