Hello Julia
Martha Plested emigrated to Australia in 1884 and became a Baptist missionary to East Bengal, India, now Bangla Desh in 1885. She served for 38 years in India and I know she returned to England two or three times in that period. Please can you find her on any lists from 1862 till about 1920?
Thanks a lot,
David

Julia,
Very many thanks for taking the trouble to research this so quickly. It is certainly the right record, as my grandmother's parents lived at 11 Ascog Street about this time.
Thanks again,
Andrew

Hi Julia,
I'd be most grateful if you could find the details of my grandparents' return to the UK from the USA. They sailed to Boston in October 1923 and I think they returned to live in Glasgow about two years later, so probably 1925 or 1926. I don't know the ports of departure/arrival for the return journey.
Their details are: James Hughes, born 21st August 1894, motor engineer. Janet Henderson Hughes (maiden name Murdoch) born 9th August 1899.
Many thanks for your time. Regards, Andrew

Hello Julia You could really help me here. I have ANNIE CALLADINE, b.1853 in Ceylon immigrating to Canada and arriving on 30 March 1885 via the Port of Halifax. She arrived with her sons on the 'Toronto.' She was age 32. She does not show up with her husband John Calladine of Toronto, in the 1901 census, as she went back to England where I found her on the 1901 census of England. I would like to know please, if possible, when she went back to England and if her son William John was with her please? Thank you if this can be done. Shannon

Hi Julia
My great-uncle, William Hambly, b. St. Austell 1864 travelled to New Zealand with his wife, Mary Emily. After her death, aged 30, in 1898 he returned to Plymouth which is what I recall my grandmother telling me. I know William Hambly is a common name, but any information would be greatly appreciated. I have tried various avenues without success.
Thanking you Wyn (NZ)

Hi Julia,
Not sure if you will be able to help me.
My great grandfather Robert Forrest (born c1897, i think) left the UK by ship in 1926 with his wife Ida Forrest (nee Brooks) and their son Robert Charles Forrest (born 1920). The ship was bound for New Zealand. I always thought he had passed on here in NZ but have since found out he divorced his wife and returned to the UK. Unfortunately I am not sure of the year.
Looking for any information on him that may be available.
Thanking you in advance for your assistance.

Hi Julia. Trying to trace Grandfather called Henry Johnson who was born in Santiago, Chile in November 1910. His Mother was from Chile - her christian name was Dorilla. The Father (Royal Navy) was English and was also called Henry (from Hull I think). Dorilla died a few months after the birth and Henry, I'm assuming, returned to England. I know he re-married and had two or three more children. I don't know any of the names. My Grandfather was brought up in a Barnardos home. Would like to know if you can trace him on any ships returning to England. Thanks. Laura.
