Hi
Please could someone look up a John Hodges living in Portsea in the 1841 census?
He was born 1830( possible 1828) I believe, so he will be 11.. Hoping he will have sister Elizabeth and brother George. Elizabeth born 1813 and brother george born 1818. Though with their ages they may not be at home in 1841. But he may have other siblings.
Possible parents Henry & Elizabeth...but unsure.
I am hoping to confirm John had sister Elizabeth and brother George. This wil confrim a lot of things for me..and really help sort my tree.
Many thanks in advance. Regards
Paul

Elizabeth I believe married a George Capper...but was married before this as I can't find a George Capper marrying an Elizabeth Hodges..so her surname may have been different at time of marriage meaning a possible second marriage.
I had found her living in London with George with a George Hodges visiting. He is down as brother in law in 1881 census.

What else do you know about John?
Did he marry? If so, what info does the cert give about his father?

John married a Ann Hardiman in 1854. They were living at 20 Hertford St, in Portsea.
Getting the marriage cert would help I know...but finances and very limited...these damn perscriptions cost a bomb and I'm not working at the moment.

Ann Hardiman is conected to the Meetyard name. Very rare here in UK... And looks like they have relations in the US. Im awaiting confirmation of link to the US Meetyards.
They say if I have a Meetyard in the family...then its 99% chance we are related.
Katherine Meetyard would be my Grt Grt Grt Grandmother..I think....lol.

Really looking for possible parents of :
Elizabeth Hodges 1813, George Hodges 1818, John Hodges 1829. I am (sure) assuming they are siblings. George was visiting or staying with Elizabeth in the 1881 cenus with possbile second husband George Capper.
Living at, 16 Queens Cottages, East Ferry Rd, Poplar, London, in 1881 census.
John Hodges had a son John born 1855 and daughter Elizabeth born 1858. Again Portsea John was a butcher and his son looks to have followed him into the trade.
Im sure there must be more siblings because of the age gap between George and John.
Any help would be great. Cheers!

How old is the Elizabeth on the 1881 census?
The one bearing children in 1813 would be pretty old in 1881
Do you think these children were all born in Portsea?

According to Ericthered's 1841 census post.
Looks like all have left home except John..as he's to young. Plus mum, Elizabeth is a widow..I assume as there no husband.
Wonder who the Gribble's are?

Paul,
I am getting confused!
How can Elizabeth Hodges be 50 in the 1841 census with John 12 and be 68 in the 1881 census?
Have you got the right family?
A George Capper married an Elizabeth Cunningham in 2nd Q 1848 (Free BMD) and they are in the 1861 and 1871 cenus' with a large family and in 1861 have a niece Elizabeth Cunningham living with them--at Portsea.
I do not have access to the 1851 census-is ericthered still with us?!!
There is a death registration on Free BMD for an Elizabeth HODGES in the 4th Q 1846.
What names did John give his children-may be a clue there!!
Clutching at straws
