Oh noes. Who would have thought, two RMVs who seem to be about the same age.
Well at least she was friendly!
I wonder whether she could clear up the other info for you - was her brother the one married to Patricia Anne, for example, and the one who was a teacher, etc., and/or had the registered company Hawell Services.
And to push the envelope a little, did he die in 2015? (It sounds as if he is still living, when she says "his birthday IS not ...")
This would be of great help in avoiding following red herrings down false trails!
Looks like "Ask a Librarian" may be the best route to try.

I received an email from Annie Jones :( :(
Hi Joanne,
I’m very sorry to have to tell you that you have the wrong Robert Malcolm Vincent. My brother was not adopted, was not born in England, and his birthday is not 17th April.
I wish you success in your search, and am sorry to be the bearer of bad news!
Sincerely,
Annie

Roberts sister told me that she went to the bmd office in Sydney to see if can find out any thing. Sent me an email saying that Robert has passed away in 2015 while travelling from Alice Springs to Darwin and a road train clipped him and he crashed. That is all she saw, she said, but surely would be a date etc... Robert was a teacher also forgot to add as saw above about him teaching

That search method doesn't work when I try it on Ancestry, JC!
However, we've ruled those people out, so that's fine. Not that it gets us any further with Robert.

But you should have done as I did, much easier! exact keyword: Lyne :-)
Those are the names I got on that search, so that rules them out as household members of Robert for sure.
I just love the Aussies and all their made-up women's names starting with "N": Noeleen. Narelle, Narina, Narita, Narda ... !

Re Vincents in Lyne -
Robert is in Gloucester, a sub-division of Lyne, and is the only Vincent in Gloucester - to clarify what I said before.
Ancestry doesn't recognise Lyne as a place-name in Australia, on the search form. Lyne is apparently an electoral division, not a specific place. So all the Vincents in Australia come up if I try searching for Lyne ! All 62,684 of them.
Having Googled a list of the main places in the Lyne division, and searching for each place individually, or at least the ones Ancestry recognises, I've only found two Vincents in Forster (Noeleen Jean and Sidney Hedley); and two in Taree (Georges Emile and Pauline Frances) .

I just did a search for the surname Vincent with keyword Lyne. Since I can't see the "city" name, it may probably be that they were in different parts of Lyne district of course. And I couldn't check the Roberts to make sure.
I have to get my worldwide back ... ! Gave the Visa a rest this month, so next billing cycle. :-) (I'm using an Ancestry sub kindly lent to me by another member here, shh!)
Yes I imagine the "Jones" is a coincidence, and her connection with the deceased is the other surname. I wonder what Robert's was though. Since he and she were named together as creditors of the estate, I do think it could be worth contacting her for any info she might be able to give, since she is readily reachable.

I wonder about this death notice
VINCENT Patricia Anne Funeral notice 04DEC2015 Death 61 late of Boondall Courier Mail (Brisbane) 09DEC2015
If Robert were deceased, one would expect a death notice to have been published and indexed by Ryerson.
There is an R Vincent listing in the same post code as Boondall:

Robert Malcolm Vincent (teacher) in NSW ER's on Ancestry -
1972, in Cooma, no other Vincents listed with him. In 1977 he's with a Patricia Anne Vincent, teacher, in Goulburn South.
I don't see her in other years, though there are other people of the same name in NSW.
The Robert in Lyne 1980 isn't the same person, unless he's changed his occupation. Listed as a station overseer.
I don't see any other Vincents listed in Lyne in 1980, on the ER image. Where did you find the other names, JC?

Hi Valerie, thanks for that, and I gave Joanne the link for NSW a little earlier.
This is the link for QLD if the RM Vincent listed in the phone book there now might be him:
http://www.slq.qld.gov.au/services/ask-us
Joanne -- is there reason to think that the sister's report of his death is not true?

http://ryersonindex.net/lookup.htm
I'm not sure how you would get copies of death notices now. I wonder whether AM Jones' names suggest a connection possibly with both that person and RM Vincent's adoptive mother.

In Lyne that year there were 4 male Vincents and 3 female (one of whom died in 2014 at age 91 so not her), so he may or may not have been married. :-) Maybe ArgyllGran will check the details!
Or, do you know whether he was married (from the electoral rolls you have) and his wife's name?

Hi - 'yes' - all Aus State Libraries offer an 'Ask a Librarian' service - they will check their records - mainly electoral rolls (past & present) and newspaper death notices up to present day.(dates/location would help). Suggest you try the 'NSW State Library' (on-line) -they can then trace your people -and see when any of them are 'missing'. Valerie WAus

The person named with RM Vincent re the estate claim is shown here:
https://abr.business.gov.au/SearchByAbn.aspx?abn=14557091261
And this is the business associated:
https://tinyurl.com/y7jqu62t
It seems no longer to be active, but there is contact info there and you could try that.
Possibly current contact info here (same tel no.):
http://www.burrawangvillage.com/contact
that tel. no. is current:
https://www.whitepages.com.au/residential/results?name=jones&location=Burrawang,%20NSW%202577&givenName=a
Don't know what the connection is other than that they were both apparently heirs of a deceased person and were said to be at the same address, in 1998. Google shows that 1998 address to be offices.

It certainly seems that Rebecca's Bernard is the same one -- he appears on the electoral rolls in Australia by his undoubtedly unique full name. Do try sending her a private message if you haven't. You can look in your Sent Messages folder to see whether it has been read - if the envelope still appears beside it, she has not opened it.
The "Ask a Librarian" service can give you up to date electoral roll info, I believe.
No obituary for Robert Malcolm Vincent appears at http://ryersonindex.net/search.php
This seems to be the most recent internet result for his full name:
http://accesspoint.com.au/abn/83661642326
Possibly a little more useful:
https://abr.business.gov.au/SearchByAbn.aspx?abn=83661642326
"Trading name: Hawell Services"
(edit -- could that be a misreading of Harvell?)
There is a 1998 reference to him here with another person's name residing at the same address:
https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/119756651/
I don't have any subscriptions to view newspaper archives; others here do, and as you can see, the scanned transcription says (it's 20 years old so I'll assume it's out of date, from what you say):
"Anne Macdonald Jones and Robert Malcolm Vincent Creditors are required to send particulars of their claims upon the Estate to TRUST COMPANY OF AUSTRALIA LTD.. Ann Macdonald Jones and Robert Malcolm Vincent of 80-84 New South Head Road. Edgecliff. N S W. 2027"
There is one RM Vincent in white pages in Australia, have you tried that?
https://www.whitepages.com.au/residential/results?name=vincent&location=New%20South%20Wales&givenName=r
(keep loading more til you get to RM)
Hang on, the two corporate info sites put him (if that is him) in QLD 4580
and there is an RM listing near there, here:
https://www.whitepages.com.au/residential/results?name=vincent&location=QLD%204580&givenName=r
If this isn't info you already have, could be worth trying.

My uncle's present name is, Robert Malcolm Vincent. Was Robert William Harvell when born in 1952 Ealing. Yes sorry, sister who was also adopted and a brother. Not blood related. Thought i would mention Australia in case Rebecca's Bernard is same one. I have electoral roll information for the 80s only.

Hi Joanne, do you want to tell us your uncle's present name so we can see whether we can find any info to help locate him or his family? His year of birth (not date, just year), or approx age, would help as well.
When you say his sister, is this another child of Bernard Vincent (i.e. not a member of your uncle's birth family)?
I guess you weren't expecting help from others here or you would have mentioned Australia. But I got there in the end! :-D
Valerie, one of the members here, hasn't visited this thread because the opening post doesn't indicate Australia. She usually recommends trying the "Ask a Librarian" service in Australia. Hold on, I'll hunt up one of her recent posts ...
Okay rats, I thought she gave a link, but the info is just that the state library for NSW has an online "Ask a Librarian" service that will check electoral rolls.
Here's a link, if NSW is the right location. The other states have the service too.

I am trying to find my uncle who is my mums brother, i have been trying to locate him for 20 years plus and only recently found out that he was adopted and taken to Australia. I since found his new name and an address for him, have sent letters, no reply :( now his sister is saying that he has passed away but no evidence of this, have been looking along with a friend and nothing so im not sure what else i can do.

Also just to note that NSW births in Australia are searchable only up to today's date in 1918, so if he was born after March 21 that year in NSW, his birth can not yet be found on a search. There was a Bernard Vincent born to a Paul and Muriel in NSW in 1917, but that's likely coincidence.
Deaths after 1988 aren't searchable.
And Ryerson Index doesn't show any obituaries that fit.
