LALLIE

There is not a baptism nor a marriage for Thomas Young in Swalcliffe, which is where people were baptised etc before Sibford was available.
Nor is there a marriage on the marriage disc for Thomas Young to a Sarah up to 1837,the previous one is in the early 1800's Sorry.

ALAN

John Lewendon married in Whitchurch 28/12/1811 to Mary Cook

Richard Toovey of Rotherfield Peppard married in Sonning Berkshire Elizabeth Simmons 16/3/1834

Regret I do not have much on South Oxfordshire so not able to do lookups for Watlington for the marriage for the wife Ellen of Richard Toovey on the 1841 census.

Richard Toovey and Elizabeth of Kingwood had a son Ebenezer baptised in the Rotherfield Peppard Congregational Church 11/8/1839 he was born 26/6/1839
No baptism for the child you are looking for Reuben Toovey there.

Hope this is of some help.

Thanks so much Margaret Rose....yes a bit of a strange one as I had John Dix as Charlotte & Louisa's father.(per the tombstone of Martha Dix in Lower Lemington Churchyard Glos....Martha wife of John !)
IGI shows a marriage of Martha Harris to John Dix on 14/11/1799 at Lower Lemington Church. Maybe Martha was married first to Joseph then his brother John ? Perhaps there is a burial record for Joseph between 1797 and 1799.
Would you have any idea why there was a private baptism, what could this suggest ?
Thanks also for info about Swalcliffe church being used prior to a church at Sibford being built.
Really appreciate your time.

TRUDY
This is a right queer one...

There is a John Dix baptised 16/10/1775 in Swalcliffe which is where people from Sibford were baptised before they had Sibford Church,

There is a Joseph Dix baptised Swalcliffe 30/5/1770 or new date 30/5/1771

John Dix married according to the marriage disc he of Swalcliffe in Leamington Parva Glos. 14/11/1797 Martha Harris.

Louisa Dix baptised privately 19/12/1800 received into church 17/1/1801

Charlotte Dix baptised 22/8/1802 privately rec'd 21/9/1802
BOTH DAUGHTERS OF JOSEPH AND MARTHA DIX.

As you can see there are both a John and a Joseph Dix in Swalcliffe so you will have to choose which you want as their parent.

I will have a look at the registers again.

Had another look, it won't make a lot of difference they both had the same parents... Joseph and Elizabeth Dix.

John Banwell and Mary had

William 20/10/1801 bapt Chastleton
Harriet as above
John Nevil bapt 24/1/1803 Chastleton
Congreve bapt 17/1/1810 Chastleton

Hope this was of interest

AMANDINE

The married of Jane Hearne and John Luckett he of Bekcley they married Oxford St Martin 14/10/1788 both made their marks. witnesses Richard Luckett who made his mark, and Sarah Baxter. they married by License.

There is no baptism for John Luckett in Beckley nor can I find one in Oxford St Martin nor Beckley for Jane Hearne.
However Richard Luckett the witnesses at their marriage had married the same year in Beckley 1788 as a widower, and had a son Jonathan in 1789, so the families are probably related. But whether son and father, or siblings I do not know.
Sorry not to have better news.
