STEPHEN continued To make matters even worse there was a burial in Wendlebury of William Bottrill aged 2 yrs of this parish 11/5/1813, so one of the two baptised in 1811 had died, but which one..... As the one I think became your ancestor which I posted in the previous entry being William Bottrell bapt 12/5/1811 in Wendlebury had the following children baptised in Bicester of Kings End Joseph 14/6/1836 privately received into church 11/9/1836 James born 27/6/1840 baptised 13/7/1840 buried 15/2/1847 aged 7 yrs Phillis born 14/9/1838 bapt 14/10/1838 Phoebe born 3/1/1842 bapt 13/2/1842 Thomas baptised 15/4/1846 buried 3/3/1851 aged 5 yrs

STEPHEN William Bottrell was baptised 12/5/1811 Wendlebury and married 11/12/1834 in Bicester and was buried 5/3/1875 aged 63 yrs in Bicester of Kings End Bicester. The only fly in the ointment is that two William Bottrells were baptised in Wendlebury in the course of only a couple of weeks... I will give both of them here William son of John and Ann bapt 26/5/1811 William son of Samuel and Phoebe 12/5/1811. both John and Samuel baptised another couple of sons James John and Ann 16/1/1814 also in Wendlebury Samuel and Phoebe 24/8/1817 Wendlebury. As there had been a James Bottrell as a witness with Elizabeth Bottrel at the marriage of William Bottrell your ancestor to his wife in 1834 I had hoped to straighten it out using the James as a brother, but no luck...

GILL John Buckeridge had the following children baptised in Henley St Mary Richard 24/6/1722 Lydia 15/5/1724 John 4/5/1726 Timothy 17/1/1728 or modern style 17/1/1729 As the first son of John Buckeridge was named Richard, I thought I would look for a marriage for a Richard Buckeridge or similar surname. Then see if he had a son John at a reasonable time.

CLIFFORD continued Louisa Pryor baptised 26/4/1850 Bampton the daughter of Wm Henry and Mary Ann. Has baptised William Henry Day the son of William Day a General Dealer, and Louisa 4/4/1872 in Bampton. I cannot look up the marriage of William Day to Louisa Pryor as it did not happen in Bampton, and the marriage disc ends at 1837.

CLIFFORD continued Susan Jane had an illegitimate son Joseph Henry Pryor baptised in Bampton aged 1 yr 9 months 4/4/1872 the same day as her parents had Charlotte Jane baptised. William Henry Pryor says on the 1851 census that he was born in London and calls himself Henry. thereafter he is from Bampton, but there is no baptism for him in Bampton. On the 1841 census William Henry is staying or is the son of William Pryor and Elizabeth both aged 50yrs he is born c 1822 but not in Oxfordshire. On the 1851 census William Pryor and Elizabeth who are farmers have a nephew staying with them Robert Pryor aged 18 yrs who was born in Tottenham Court Road London, so perhaps this is where William henry Pryor born c 1822 was born also.

GILL the dates are both correct except that we would now call the marriage date 31/1/1745 , William Wise and Lidia Buckride were both of this parish and she was the daughter of John.
