Hi Margaret Rose,
Thank you very much for your very prompt reply,& all the info you sent, that is great, I didn’t expect think you would be that quick, I thought you would be sitting in the garden with your feet up having a glass of something cold.
I have looked for Sarah and Charles in Dursley Gloucestershire for baptisms, but didn’t find them, may be his father moved? but you have found the marriage so that confirmed her name was Sarah Eliza. Thank you once again , Ann

Hello Margaret
I don't know how far back the records go, they may not go back this far, but if so could you please see if you can find the birth of:
Jonathan Whetton, probably Lower Heyford and about 1680. He married Hannah Edwards in Lower Heyford in 1701, and he died in 1719 (the same year that his son Jonathan Whetton was born).
Thank you
Pat

Wow Margaret, that was quick, thanks.
I wonder if you could track down the parents' marriage if you wouldn't mind. Of course, William, Sarah and Smith are all pretty common names! There are a William and Sarah Smith both listed as age 60 on the 1841, so if they got married at 20 ish then this would be around 1800, maybe from then any time up to Emanuel's baptism. On the 1851 William is 70 and Sarah 74, in the next household to Emanuel and his family, so maybe a marriage even a bit before 1800.
Any other siblings to Emanuel that you could find would be great, on the 1841 census there is a William H Smith, age 10, with William and Sarah but not sure if he would be their son, as they would both have been relatively old by then.
Many thanks in advance for your help.
Helen

Hi Margaret, hope you are well.
I wonder if you could check to see if you can find a baptism in Towersey for Emanuel (or Emmanuel) SMITH. I have his marriage cert from 1839 which has him aged 20, and he is on 1841 census aged 22, so I would imagine he was born around 1819/1820.
I have info from another contact that his parents were William SMITH and a Sarah, but I have not confirmed this.
Not sure you will have these records as Towersey was then Bucks although now Oxon.
You did find his grandson's baptism for me (Thomas William Smith baseborn son of Marie Smith baptised Towersey 16/5/1869).
Many thanks
Helen
