Hi Margaret
Another Clack queery !
Samuel Clack widowed in 1831 married again quite soon afterwards to an Eleanor -possibly James who was also widow.
Said to be at Bampton (Ancestry) but it is not in the transcripts-is it in the Marriage Index?
Thank you Elizabeth

Thanks very much, Margaret, I'll try looking at the Oxfordshshire Family History site; I will also look at wills but I doubt my ancestors had anything to leave in a will! You never know.
Thanks so much for your help, much appreciated.

Thank you so much Margaret
Yes,it is the trees on Ancestry that are causing the confusion !!
Boaz had a brother John who married 3 times having several children by these 2 wives, his third marriage was to Jane Clack nee Jakeman(his brother's widow) in 1857 at St Michaels Oxford and after 1861 the children are all lumped together in the census' causing the confusion !
Very many thanks again

ELIZABETH Boaz Clack married in Chesterton Jane Jakeman 2/4/1839 he a full age bachelor farmer of Aston in the Parish of Bampton she a full age spinster daughter of a farmer, he John. they married by License witnesses Isaac Jakeman, Caroline Jakeman Boaz and Jane baptised in Islip John on 8/3/1845 son of Boaz and Jane he a butcher. and baptised in Ardley Eliza Jane 4/4/1840 he a farmer of Ardley Boaz 29/5/1841 ditto Louisa Sophia 1/1/1843
as you know Boaz was baptised in Bampton 13/8/1817 son of Samuel and Sophia he a tradesman
In Chesterton 25/1/1845 Boaz was buried aged 3 yrs 8 months and had been brought from Islip 24/2/1852 Boaz was buried aed 34 yrs of Chesterton.
On an Ancestry tree there are other children they being John 1845, Elizabeth 1847 Emma 1848, Eleanor Faulkoner Clack 1850 born respectively, Islip, Weald which is in Bampton parish, Filkins, and Weald again/. None of these children show up in these parishes. Perhaps Jane Jakeman married again after the early death of Boaz, and the children were baptised in her next parish.

PAT if you go to the Oxfordshire Family History Society web page, (google) you will be able to see which parishes have been transcribed, and for how far back. Also there are wills google Oxfordshire Wills... some go back ages and ages, look for your names of interest. they are there in modern language as well in the original.

Hello Margaret
I hope things have settled down since your recent problems ?
Am wondering if you can assist with another CLACK queery.
Boaz Clack born 1817 Bampton married a Jane ? (not on Free BMD)
The first child I can find (Boaz) was baptised at Ardley in 1841,they then baptised at least one child at Islip before returning to Aston Bampton
(I have the Bampton and Aston Bampton transcriptions)
If possible I would like to know Any marriage details Children If the children survived
Thank you (in hope !!)

Hello Margaret
You were kind enough to look up some records for me re the Oxfordshire Whettons which was a tremendous help. This is just a general query - how many of the Parish Records etc. have been transcribed, is there still a long way to go? How do I find out more re my Lower Heyford ancestors, are there records available in the area that go further back or are complete? I am wondering if a visit there might be useful at some point, as it is quite a long way for me to come.
Hope you don't mind me asking
Kind regards Pat

William was born 1789 at Finstock (bpt Charlbury) and John born 1813 was the first child of William & Mary but the Mary buried 1815 could well be relevant
