It looks as if we have done a load of excellent research for someone else. I am so sorry!!!

Elizabeth Purvis's marriage certificate shows her father to be a Thomas Purvis, a coal miner.
Elizabeth age 21 and David Montgomery, age 22, married on the 11th Sept 1875 at the register office in the district of Auckland, Co. Durham. (Is this Bishop Auckland or a totally different place?) At the time of the marriage they were both residing at Sunnybrow (wherever that is?).
What comes after; .... the children ... and the return to Tranent in East Lothian I know is right.
I have just made the wrong English connection and I have just discovered why??
Elizabeth Montgomery formerly Purvis, is listed on the 1881 Scottish Census as having been born in Willington ... but Willington DURHAM, not Northumberland!!!! The confusion arose because her husband David Montgomery's half brother, was born in Willington Northumberland and I didn't realise there were two! ! ! ! Scream!!!
Bother!!!! ... could be stronger!!!! ... Well it is back to the drawing board for me.

I know that Sunnybrow village is three quarters of a mile from Willington and about three miles from Bishop Auckland.
I also know that Willington Colliery was also known as Sunnybrow Colliery. Perhars that is where Thomas Purvis worked?

Yes, Elisabeth could have fibbed about her age on the marriage certificate but if she did she went on fibbing; as subsequent Scottish census records show her as ONE year younger than her husband!
It is not impossible that she went on fibbing but I'm not sure she was clever enough to keep it up? She couldn't write her name on her marriage cert.
