If you have never posted on this board before, I hope this will help you. I haven't been around here that long but the researchers are excellent and I have picked up a few tips:

Always print your request simply and plainly (with punctuation).
They need names, dates of birth/marriage etc. addresses or localities and be specific with your question as they are not mind readers.

Stay near your computer after you have posted your request as some can get back to you very quickly.

If you get a reply, click on 'add' and respond. Always remember to thank them for their efforts, as that is common courtesy.

If you can't check for a while, come back onto this page and on the left you will see the man in the top hat. Under him you will see 'my threads'. Click on that and your headline will be shown and you can see if anyone has answered you. Clicking on that link will open up your question for you.

Never be afraid to ask if you don't know what to do next or how to use the site. Someone will generally help you out.

If you see a request that you think you can help out with, always look at the date that the request was posted. Some of them are old and the person who put the request on may not be checking or have forgotten. Send them a private message by clicking on their underscored name.

This is not a comprehensive list by any means - as I said, I am still learning - but I hope it helps someone.
