1911 is done on the address not on surnames. You provide the address, they search it and provide info on who was living there at that time.

Library would more than likely do newspaper look up for you re fire and also for birth & deaths of twins.

Make sure you let us know how you get on.

Hi Nicki

Thanks for that, I wasn't aware you could buy the 1911!

Bet - £7 each, what a con!

I was recommended to try 'FreeBMD' so I am going to Google that website now, hopefuly it will throw out some marriages or deaths for these eight!

Does anyone know if you can search local newspapers online? Was thinking that if Eleanor (Nellie) died in a fire, it may have been in a Manchester paper. In fact, I will try the Central Library...

Triplets each have their own birth certificate so it costs £21.00 !!

I have some in my tree,I sent £7.00 with the 3 names, and got 1 certificate with "triplets" written allong the side!!

Am still hoping someone can help!

Thanks again

Perhaps you could get the birth of Eleanor, then you could get the address and maybe pay to have the 1911 cenus - it costs £45, but well worth it if you want to get some more concrete info instead of waiting till 2011.

Katie - after about 1901, info gets much harder to find, its not as easy to seach anyway.

I guess, althought the triplets are suposed to have died, they wont have died together I doubt, and Collins is a difficult name to hunt thru - there are hundreds of them!

You may find a subscription to Ancestry helpful

Hi I'm trying to trace information about eight siblings in my family tree.

The parents were David Collins (b1883-c1948) and Mary Ann Collins (b1884(c) - c1952, nee Ryan), they had eight children. Both parents and all children born in Manchester. The family lived in Ancoats, Manchester.

If anyone can help me find out any information on the following, I would be very grateful! I have birth years, but no specific birth dates, marriage dates or death dates: i know its a challenge!

Eleanor Collins bDec 1912 (born Manchester) according to family, she died age 5 in a fire?

Mary Collins (b 1917, Manchester) die pre-1927?

Triplets Annie, Margaret and Theresa Collins (b 1920, Manchester, birth certificate ref 8d, 789) - I have no idea what happened to them

Edward Collins (b1910-d1955, Manchester)

Robert Collins (1902-1976, Manchester) married a Catherine Scott?

John Collins (b1900, Manchester)

Any help you can give would be fab.

Thanks

Katie

Is it true that Eleanor Collins bDec 1912 (Manchester) died age 5 in a fire?

Also, did Mary Collins (b 1917) die pre-1927?

Hi Seaham Lass!

Thanks for your reply! Thanks for the marriage info - that's another certificate I probably need to order! i do have that census scan, and they are part of the family! I've spent (and wasted!) so much money over the last week buying credits for censuses!

Does anyone have any info about Mary Collins (nee Rooney)'s husband John Collins, b1849? She is now a widow so he must have died since the prev census.

Sorry they WERE born Preston - got too much sun today - ignore me - probably not yours

Nicki

Nicki Report 27 Jul 2008 15:49

The other thing you need to be wary of is that they could have died and the death registered before their birth was registered.

Do you have any idea how long they lived for?

Thank you all for all of the info!

Minnie - I think 'Eleanor' is who I have down as 'Nellie' - we thought it might be a nickname! So Mary was 1917!

Who is Thomas, Eveline and Jean though? These aren't names we've heard. Interesting! Does it definitely say 'Preston' as their place of birth and not 'Prestwich'' like the others?

Thanks again! :)

I used freebmd. I find the less info you put in the more successful you seem to be.

If it is the triplets, it should give the times they were born.

Fingers crossed. Let us know.

Penny Report 27 Jul 2008 15:16

have you looked at FREEBMD site? thats always worth a play with.

Now you know the triplets details have a play entering their details, just to confirm that you know what you are doing.

go to births- enter Theresa Collins, and click search - scroll down and you'll see it under 1920, in a muddy sort of pink colour
