Thanks for the look up for Evan Thomas James. I know his brother who died in 1917 was in the Welsh Regiment, so I assume Evan was as well.
Thanks

Hi Lesley
I wonder if you could check out my Great Grandad please?
His name was Hamish Cassells and he was from Lanarkshire (father Robert Cassells) and he was in the Cameronians (Scottish Rifles) and served in France. My mum has his five medals, we reckon most of them are campaign medals but one, we think, is a Meritorious Service Medal.
Many thanks.

There is nothing in the Service or Pension records that correlate to the details you have given.
There are 41 Evan James' in the Medal Rolls - however there are only two Evan T James'
Evan T James South Wales Borderers, Royal Welsh Fusiliers 15442, 38201
Evan T James Welsh Regiment 75613
I can't narrow this down I'm afraid.

Hi Shannette
I have found the service records for a Claude Charles Clare - he was born approx 1880 and was married to an Emily Gledhill and they had children called Katherine, Milly, Emily and Ernest. They lived in Clerkenwell London.
I have also found this for your Claude Frederick Clare, however the Navy Records are not online so you cannot view them, apart from this one on the National Archives website.
Description Name Clare, Claude Frederick Official Number: L4892 Place of Birth: Islington, London Date 11 April 1894 Catalogue reference ADM 188/997 Dept Records of the Admiralty, Naval Forces, Royal Marines, Coastguard, and related bodies Series Admiralty: Royal Navy Registers of Seamen's Services Piece 4501-5000
Have no clue what these details contain.
Nothing coming up for Harold Jack Clare
Lesley.
