Lesley. John Michaels brother Edward was also killed in WW1. If possible I would appreciate any information about him. Edward Marsh born 1878 at Retford. He was in York and Lancaster regiment, killed 15th September 1916 aged 38 years old. I think he died on the Somme. Many thanks Teresa.

If you want to try to find out more try writing to the actual regiment, they have helped others in the past, and as you know their regiment numbers this helps.

Hi Tracy
With a name like Davies (and it being in Wales) its like looking for a needle in a haystack I'm afraid. With a common name you need much more information as I have to go into every record and search it manually.

Nothing is coming up Online for him with that Regiment number. However they did change their regiment numbers at various stages and we have to rely on the transcribers putting everything in. So on another vein, do you know the year he was born, also where he was born & lived, and also his parents or wife's name. I will then do an extensive search for him.
