If you decide you want to subscribe to Ancestry after the free trial - give them a ring and ask them to reduce the price - this is what I did some time ago and it did work

I think (although at whatever the price, I still think it is worth it), £95 is a bit 'steep' - other people are paying much less !

Anyway, have your free trial - you will find a lot !!

I will look into the prices as that sounds quite expensive !! - I still wouldn't be without it though (personally), nomatter what the price!.

Without a doubt - Ancestry !!

I use others alongside this but would not be without it!

All Census + all Bmd (althought I like to have family relatives site too as it is more user friendly) + much more. - In my opinion - Find my past is not such good value !!

Ancestry is the one ! - approx £70 per year but well worth it. - I joined via .com site rather than .uk and I only pay about £58 - I don't know if this still works.?

i will double check with my nan. she did say dutch though.
no, i havent subscribed to anything yet, which is the best one to subscribe to?
thanks x

Hi,

Firstly, are you sure he was Dutch, rather than German?

The only way to find the children is to 'trawl' page by page through the Bmd - either on Ancestry, or some other site like 'Find my past'

Do you have a subscription to any of these sites?

dea you are amazing!

yes christina kohler, her 2nd husband was dutch so i dont think that i will be able to find any information on his family would i? i will order that marriage cert now though, thanks.

my nan remembers that christina had 3 children that died. one was to charles and her name was theresa, she thinks that she was maybe 2-3 years old and she had 2 children with adrianus (known as harry) who both died as babies (either still born or a few months old) is there any way that i can find out about these children?

i have got the year of birth for her 5 children that she had with charles that lived.

thanks

Hi,

Nice to have an update dani,

I take it her death cert shows her name as Kohler and I can tell you with certainty that this was her second marriage:

Lancashire Marriage indexes for the years: 1944
Surname Forename(s) Surname Forename(s) Church / Register Office Registers At Reference
DONALD * Christina KOHLER Adrianus, Norris Green, St. Christopher Liverpool 2031WD/3/220

* nee McCann

You are lucky that this took place in Lancashire as Lancs Bmd site often gives previous name on second marriages.

GRO ref would be - Liverpool N. 8b 514 Jan/Feb/Mar Q1 1944

hi, i have only just found out today how to find this post again so i thought i would give you all an update.

i am still waiting for the marriage cert but my nan has since found christinas death cert - her dob was 23.01.1904 - she died 19.09.1975. my nan has only just told me that she divorced charles and re-married (again she doesnt remember any dates!) will find out all about charles and christina before i start on her second husband though!

thanks for your help everyone and i will let you know when cert arrrives.

Tick yes on 'do you have the GRO reference'

Pam Report 5 Jul 2008 15:31

There is a space on the form which asks if you have the reference...you need to say yes. Then you use the reference given to you above and it should cost £7 as they do not have to search for it.

I think you just need to put June Quarter or JQ

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
