Find Ancestors

hi i have the wedding cert for my gf 1947 whare it states he was previously married to another women says he attained a divorce from her the problem is this womens name is quite hard to see we think it is (maud speed) but could be maria ????? any help would be great we think it was in berkshire as that is whare the family are from but could be hampshire as that is whare they moved too could anyone search????

What was his name?

sam marshall born 1911 there is a mystery in the family as his wedding cert to my nan stated he was married before but none of us ever new including my nan would love to find out about it and if we have half brothers and sisters and so on

Was Sam his name or Samuel?

sam marshall could have been samuel with the previous women but we all new him as sam and its on his birth and marriage and death certs

i think it would have been around 1930+

as he married my nan who he met in italy during the war in 1944 then married 1947 interested if he had any children with her as he was alot older then my nan

Is the last name definately Speed?

Just checked from 1929 - 1936 nothing as yet.

well its quite hard to reed it looks like (maud speed)

I have now looked to 1944 and Nothing coming up for a Sam or Samuel marrying anything that looks like Speed or Speer. COuld he have also married this lady out of the Uk?

would that be on an english birth cert? no i dont think he could of he went to war in 42 met me nan in 44 and married in 47 its very strange he must have been married or why else would it have been on the marriage cert with my nan? no i think we have to rule out he was married abroad what about around 42?

I have looked from 1927 - 1945

Would it helped it I went back through it and jot down for you all the Surnames of the Sam's Marshall who married? Perhaps then the Speed or Speer might not even be that and you might recognise it.

yeh that would be great if you dont mind it must of happend or why would it be on the marriage of him and my nan the thing that was strange is that when he came back from the war my nan had to wait a year to come to england we think this was because he was trying to tie up all the loose ends with this other women before she came over ummm...

Don't know if it helps but there is a "public tree" on Ancestry for Sam Marshall and it states he married a Maude Speed. No dates given.
