Found A Mary Jane Riley in 1881 b 1870 in the Civil Parish: Ossett Cum Gawthorpe. Her mothers name was Sophia the same as the daughter in 1901.

I think you're right Joy & I've had a look at the 1851&1841 for Henry as Ryley & it looks the most likely for him also.

I'm going to go back & have a look at the Joseph Riley in 1891.

The Joseph you've found in 1891 I don't think is mine. Went trawling and found this.

Joseph Ryley born c1857 Sheffield, Yorkshire.

Tried tracking him back and found nothing with that spelling.

I've also tried tracking Henry Riley (born c1831 Mansfield) back to 1851 with that spelling and nothing comes up, but there does with the RYLEY spelling. It comes us as born in M WOODHOUSE ie Mansfield Woodhouse.
