Ann St Mary and St Peter's Church was in a street called Vauxhall in St Helier (it's since been rebuilt and is slightly out of town) It was known as the Irish church with St Thomas's RC church being known as the French church. Pam

Hello Pam,
I am looking for relatives of my mother. It is believed they moved to Jersey but she has no idea when, whether they married, had children are still alive or dead.
The relatives are Augustus (Born 1914) and Noel (Born 1920) Richardson. They are registered in Dartford in Kent. Their mother's name was Sarah Boyce. She married their father in Chertsey in Surrey in 1913. The boys had a younger sister named Jean (born 1922). That is all that we have at this stage, so any help you are able to give will be very much appreciated.
Mary

Katherine I haven't managed to find the marriage or the death yet but do you think this is right for the eldest daughter's birth?
10/4/1871 Helena Rhoda Elizabeth daughter of Tom Albert Neil (gardener) and Helena Ashford at Faldouet (which is an area of St Martin). Birth notified by Elizabeth Ashford - present at the birth.
If you think this is the right birth then having the mother's maiden name will make it easier to search for the marriage.
All of the other children are in the St Helier registers at approximately the dates you have. I didn't look them up but I have made a note of all their middle names if that's of any interest.
All the best Pam

Hi Pam
Thanks for your efforts. Yes I believe that is the correct info for the eldest daughter's birth as all her names are correct as are the father's name and occupation. The middle names of the other children would be good as I only have some of them from the censuses. With regard to Tom's father's death (Thomas), I have the death cert for his wife as she died in London in 1874 whilst staying with one of the other children and it says wife of Thomas rather than widow of Thomas.

Hi Pam,
Can I request your help please? If this is a repeat of one I thought I had sent you a couple of days ago I apologise, but I couldn't see the first one on the site, so assume it did not get sent!
I am looking for two relatives named RICHARDSON who it is thought moved to Jersey. They are Augustus J (B 1914) who married Edith C Newberry in Dartford Kent in 1935. Secondly Noel C (B 1920) who married Norma M Belnaves in 1949 in Dartford Kent? I have searched the death records from 1971 to 2004 without finding any evidence of their deaths. Did they have any children? Are their wives from the Channel Isles? Is there any evidence of their having lived or living on the Channel Isles? Any help you can give me will be appreciated. Thank You Mary

Pam,
I've just found my first message to you and your reply to me (Thank you). I hope the extra information in my second request might help. We do not know, but assume that if they did move it was after their marriages. The thought in the family is that the reason they moved to the Channel Isles was because of the women in their lives. So do Edith C Newberry or Norma M Belnaves originate from there and do they have any relatives still living? Mary

Mary I'll do my best for you but it may take a few days, the Archive won't be open again until Tues. Also Richardson is quite a common name over here - luckily I haven't come across many Augustus's! Pam

Liz & Alicia I'll certainly give it a go for you - any idea which parish? Don't expect to hear anything until at least next Tues/Wed due to the erratic opening hours of our Archive and Registry Office. Pam

Hello Liz A Thomas Clarkson died in St Helier, Jersey on the 23rd May 1872, aged 41. He was 'of independent means' and died of 'paralysie' which probably means he had a stroke. The death was reported by a Jane Sho? - couldn't decipher the full name unfortunately and she lived at 48 Val Plaisant. If you want a copy of the certificate the address to apply is, Superintendent Registrar 10 Royal Square St Helier Jersey JE2 4WA Copies cost £10 and the reference is St Helier Volume 23, Page 6
Hope this is your man All the best Pam

Hello Anne (Sussex Maid) I couldn't find a baptism for Jean (John) Romeril in St Peter but I did find this one which could be your Mary Jane.
1/6/1820 Marie Jeanne (Mary Jane) daughter of Thomas le Brocq and Anne Berne. The godparents were Phillipe du Val and Miss Marie Huelin.
All the best Pam
