I live in Jersey and am able to view complete BMD's, the Registry Office here only charges if you order a certificate but anyone can go and browse the registers. The Archive also has complete Parish Records, some going back to the 1600's.

Don't expect quick replies because a) the Archive is only open 3 days a week and b) I have to show my face at work sometimes.

As much info as possible please, especially the parish if known.

I'm not looking for anyone - I'm offering to go to the Archive and look them up for other people. That's why the subject is 'can search Jersey BMDs'

Hi Pam, Thank you for your kind offer.

I am looking for info on the Sherriff Family. James Sherriff c1820 (occ: Stone Masons) wifes name Sarah, his daughter Sarah Jane 1842, Son's James 1843, John c1846 and Thomas c1849 are down on a couple of Census being born in Jersey, the other children were born in Devon. I know they were living in Devon in 1861.

Sorry as this is the only info i have for them.

Regards

Debbie

Hi Pam

Wow Great offer.

Can you see if you can find baptisms for
3 children of George Bartlett & Temperance
Eliza c1826, Elizabeth c 1830 and Emma c 1833 in St Helier

On the 1841 census they are living in Columbus St St Helier Jersey.

Its also possible Temperance born c1790 died in St Helier Jersey between 1841 - 1851
so I would appreciate a look up for this.

Thank You

Sue

Hi Pam

Many thanks for your kind offer.

Could you please look up the marriage of John Saunders and Susan/Susannah Martyn.

I suspect they will have got married in the late 1850s as he is single on 1851 and they are married and have a 4 month baby by 1861.

On 1861 they live at High Street St Anne Alderney and John is described as a Bargeman.

They both originate in England if that helps, her in Looe Cornwall and him from Devon, Aveton Gifford we think.

Sorry that makes it sound as though they are purely attached to Alderney, but there are members of the Martyn family in Jersey also, so a Jersey marriage is a distinct possibility.

Thank you.

Dianne xx

Sue
So far:-
Emma Bartlett baptism, St Helier, 3.3.1833
George and Temperance his wife
Godparents, Richard Dodge and mother

Eliza Bartlett baptism, Grouville, 1.1.1837 (I think this may have been mis-transcibed and should be 1827)
fille de Mr George et Temperance
Godparents Tom Mallet, Gent et Miss Louisa Jane Mallet

Temperence death entry in funeral directors archives 6.6.1849 aged 59. I will look that up properly in a few days as it means going to another office.
There is also a death for an Emma Bartlett between 1844 and 1845, I check that one as well and see if it's yours.

Hope this helps

Wow Thank You. This certainly does help.
Very much appreciated
The death of Emma 1844 / 1845 is not the Emma I have .
Emma is with father George as a widower with Eliza and Elizabeth in Melcombe Regis Dorset.

However The death entry for Temperance I await with interest.

Many Thanks

Hi Pam, its nice of you to offer your help. I am looking for an Emily Fox. My Great Grandfather is a Henry Charles Fox (b. 1884) who married an Amilia Connor (b. 1888) in 1907, however one of my relatives whilst visiting Jersey found "Emily Fox" buried in one of the Connor family graves at Almorah Cemetery in St Helier. She was buried on the 18th August 1909 but we have not been able to identify any further information about her so far including how she is related. I suspect she could be the sister of Henry, and being that he was thought to be born in Bristol and moved to Jersey, that Emily may also have moved with him and was buried in the Connor plot being related via a marriage. If you could find anything it would be gratefully received. Thank you Louise

Ann
Is Fitzpatrick her maiden name?
There are no formal records before 1842. Without the names of her parents all I can do is send you Baptism records (if any) but there will be no way of knowing if they are the one you are looking for.
I have to work later today and the Archive will not be open again until Tues

Hi Pam

Not sure if you will be able to help but here goes. I am trying to find the deaths of George William Salmon his wife Ellen Salmon nee Hutchinson and their son Brian Salmon. They moved to Jersey from Kingston sometime after 1930. As far as i know they all died there. I have been told that they owned a hotel on Jersey and that Brian died quite young as he had severe brain damage and was in a residental/nursing home. I was told that George died around 1976 but as yet cannot confirm this. He also died before his wife. Any assisteance you can offer would be brilliant.St Helier has also been mentioned if this helps?

heres hoping
