Its a different regiment, the Cameronian Scottish Rifles are from Lanarkshire a lowland regiment.

Hi,
can anyone help me. My Great Grandfather was killed in the 1st world war. Because my great grandmother remarried his memory was lost through time, although to be fair, me and my dad were christened with his surname as our middle names. I would like to know where he fell and was buried so that me and my dad can visit. His name was Robert Smith and he was a Private in the 1st Battalion Cameronian Scottish Rifles. He died in 1914. I have a lead on one individual but need to confirm his next of kin and that's where it is difficult as there are no records in scotland. I have his number which is 8761, not many Robert Smith's of the Scottish Rifles were killed in 1914 according to the record Soldiers Died.
So if there is anyone out there who can tell me where next to look or can help me in some way please do.
