A Rose Thorton birth in Poplar that fits in with her age at marriage |

I've dropped that tree owner a mail. Actually I think he's a cousin of mine [we're not a close family]. He hasn't logged on for six months though so not sure I'll get a reply. |

Here's an obsure potential, probably nothing. There was a Henry Thornton, [Roses fathers name] born in Poplar, London in 1875. There was also an Emily Williams who married there in the same year. Rose subsequently pops up in Manchester, as does henry. Perhaps they moved...[this made more sense yesterday.] |

Just a thought don't know how much help it will be but one of my ancestors was registered Edith Rose but married as Rose Edith. May be Edward Richard could have been Richard Edward just clutching at straws really |

Someone else trying to follow this tree has Emily Williams as EKs wife, born 1875, but I think it's a guess. Dang, I can't remember where I found that now...this is the trouble with doing this, you lose track. |

Hopefully the Edward Snr's wife will have been the informant (if she outlived him) |

My other also mentioned relations in Canada called Crump. But no one knows anything about it. ['Bertram Crump'?] |

There's always been a story that we're linked to a General George Kitching. He was a contemporary of ERKs but I've investigated it and can't see the link. It may be back and his branch could have been from a sibling of EK, or further back, I suppose. The General was with the Britich Army in India in the thirties and the Canadian Army in WW2, where he became quite famous. |

The Edward who died? I don't know. Actually, I don't know for ERK either. |

Birth cert for ERK that is.... |

David | Report | 6 Jun 2008 21:12 |
I don;t understand why there's no birth cert. As ERKs father is mentioned on the marriage cert, albeit deceased...unless he was invented. |
