And he was thought to own an engineering company??

Maybe he managed an engineering franchise?

Or he was working at their Liverpool office?

David it's a company paid trip, so i doubt it.... i would def say it's a business trip there are a few of them that have gone....

David

David Report 7 Jun 2008 16:18

The Canadian aspect of that trip ties in with the fact that Crump are rememberd as relatives living in Canada perhaps...

WayneTracey

ahhh ok, i'm looking at the migration reports, and altho most use them for finding people who emigrated.....not everyone emigrated!!!

So this means they show everyone who made a trip.... inc business trips. There is an Edward Kitching born 1905 shown as a manager making a trip to Canada....

Analysing the data now to see if it could be the Jnr guy!

Tracey :)

WayneTracey Report 7 Jun 2008 15:58

He's not scotland born (i've checked), but being born abroad is def an option...

We need to establish more on his father,,,,

Debbie

Debbie Report 7 Jun 2008 15:29

I never thought of the chance that he could have been born in scotland or indeed India.

bertram another one born outside of 1901 cencus

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 7 Jun 2008 15:19

Debbie Report 7 Jun 2008 15:17

Hi tracey

No we've not found a birth for bertram crump - i just had a quick look for a marriage as I though He may have married the other witness

WayneTracey

WayneTracey Report 7 Jun 2008 15:14

I need to paraphrase this now as it's so drawn out.

Edward Richard Kitching married Rose Thornton on 9 Aug 1930, he was 26 she was 24

Edwards Father was also Edward a Cotton Importer, died in 1922 aged 51 (b approx 1871).

Edward Richard Kitching jnr died in Bristol 1983 aged 70 (b approx 1904).

Witness's were May Thornton & Bertram Crump

......his age at marriage matches his appros date of birth, there maybe the option that May was courting Bertram and therefore they were a couple.

I agree there is a good chance that Edward Kitching was probably born with either his mothers name, or an option not mentioned...maybe he wasn't 'English' born?

Could he have been born in Scotland/Ireland and came down to Manchester area for work? ...or indeed if his father travelled, he might have been born in India where the cotton trade was big business?

Has a birth been found for Bertram and maybe find him on the census? He could well have been a neighbour if not May's partner...or a work collegue
