Ladies - Dont know if this helps but i have notes of an Arthur Menzies in the same area linked to betting shops & that he married a Marsden & they had a son Alan in the 40's ?

Is there any way we could check who was living at 47 Vicarage Grove Barton Eccles from 1920 to 1950 mabye ?

we cant check through census Joanne as the birth is 1903 for Alexander Ross

Maybe get in touch with the local library/Records Office and ask if they could do an electrol roll lookup for the address? Maybe five years previous to the marriage date to see who was living there (and old enough to vote), maybe there will be some other family members.

Electrol rolls wheren't take during war years so those are out.

You can check old electoral rolls at an archive / record office or main library local to that address.
There are none for war years.
Only people eligible to vote, ie over 21 and registered would be listed....and no women in the early years.

If he did change his name (and birth year) to take part in WW1, then maybe Alexander was the assumed name and he was really born something else...

Doesnt help much I know, but something to bare in mind.

Ladies - Instead of 47 Vicarage grove what about Alexanders address befor he married Henrietta of 3 Barton Lane Barton Eccles ?

Many thanks for the good advice - Looks like i will be making a trip to the local records office and check this out - I do know that some of the Marsdens were buried at Weaste cemetry Salford - Is there a way to find out on line if any of mine are in there ?
