Mel Fairy Godmother Report 26 Oct 2009 18:16

Janey I don't like ready mades and they don't satify me anyway. I roll my own and a 50g pack of baccy lasts me a week or more sometimes. That costs me £11. 97p. I too have blood pressure and my dad died of a heart attack at the age of 57 and he did'nt smoke or drink. I think when your time is up you go.........

roflol

............... after reading the postings after my last one

I had laser treatment to stop smoking ............. back in 1991.

Haven't had a cigarette since, but I did dream quite a lot for about the first 8 or 9 years about smoking, and even woke up with "that" taste in my mouth!

I get to go to the doc's office on Wednesday ........ but I always have a book with me. I ride the buses and like to read, and as I ride the buses I usually arrive early for appointments (I hate being late which I end up being if I try to arrive "on time") .................. hence the book.

AnnOGG ... sorry to hear that you've had the swine flu.

Like the UK, Canada is in the throes of the 2nd go-round with it. My daughter has decided NOT to get the vaccine ........ even though she is in her 2nd trimester, and they are really pushing over here that pregnant women are one of the most susceptible groups. She's read about it, listened to "experts", gone to meetings ...... and has decided that the side effects might be worse that keeping good care of herself, good hygiene etc.

I'm in the group that they say are not really in danger ...... over 65 with no underlying chronic health issues, so we get to have the regular flu vaccine first, and then H1N1 vaccine "later".

Crikey Mel,I havent bought baccy in the shops since I dont know when,I just visit our local "dealer"and its only £6 for a 2oz pack.
Which is just as well with 2 of us smoking ,,him started aged 9 when sent to boarding school and me aged 14 when family moved and I HATED my new secondary,in fact I left rather early at just 15 and didnt return to Wales until after my 16th.
But thats another story.....

Absolutely NOT Sylvia.

I "ran away with the hippies"as mother always puts it.

Edit,,
Funny really as I made contact some months ago with the grandaughter of my grans half sister who was shipped to Canada by Barnardos and she was part of that sort of crowd in her home town.
Now lives with a Native Canuck, cant remember what tribe she said.
Near Thunder Bay I think which Janey informed me is a mosquito haven I believe.

The genes must have been handed down by our mutual Great Grandfather!

Black flies, Viv, black flies. The flying parasites, not the First Nation.

I gave you the youtube link?

Oscar-nominated animated short from the National Film Board of Canada.

"The Black Fly Song" is a song by Wade Hemsworth, written in 1949, about working in the wilds of Northern Ontario. It is an enduring classic of Canadian folk music, covered by a variety of other artists.

Some countries have folk songs about heroic exploits or great tragedies. Ours are about flies.

I gave up for 10 years once but started again. Foolish I know.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 26 Oct 2009 19:49

Of course,Black flies.
Over here Black fly is a cattle disease!

I think.

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 26 Oct 2009 20:12

You think? You're the one who fell off a cow; shouldn't you know?

I'm never sure which sounds stupider. You falling off a cow (did you break something? I think) or me falling off a driveway (I think you call them lanes or laneways, the asphalt thing leading to a garage) and breaking my foot.

Ginny..
I am not doing it all over again, thats for sure.

Janey,,I broke my left wrist,bones sticking out etc,you get the picture,aged 8.
But it did save me having braces on my teeth as it knocked them straight, the dentist wrote up all about it in some dental mag.first of its kind I was told, normally people knock em out.

Sylvia..I know how you feel sometimes with the "dont tempt me"

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 26 Oct 2009 21:31

One of the mysteries of the universe.

How do people delete entire threads by mistake?

I'm not doing it over either. What little I vaguely recall doing. Oh no, that's right, it was the Canuckistanian stuff. Urgh. Well, if she's totally lost, I can give links again.

I wish people knew that if they do that and immediately use the "back" function in their browser they can still see the thread and then copy it somewhere.

The other mystery of the universe is: why do people who start threads reply to posts by PM while people who dredge up decade-old posts reply to them in the thread? And vice versa.

FannyByGaslight

FannyByGaslight Report 26 Oct 2009 21:38

We are NOT going there again Janey,
I remember the last time you started out on that mystery about pms and answers,WW3 nearly broke out.

JaneyCanuck

JaneyCanuck Report 26 Oct 2009 21:39

But you have to admit, it's an enigma. ;)

FannyByGaslight
