Two completely different lines of research, I have Slaneys from Mansfield Woodhouse yet have been told the name is Irish. Im very interested as I have them back to the mid 1700s in Mansfield Woodhouse (Notts). If anyone knows more about the Slaney name I'd love to hear from you.

Seperately, I have Sladen's from Newark on Trent, Notts. They were boat people before moving to Nottingham. Does anyone know anything about the boat people of Newark, Ive not been able to uncover anything yet surely there must be a lot of history to them?
