It would be really helpful if Genes would put some guidelines up on this subject. Sending around 50 messages out per day is time consuming - I know I don't have to do it, but I feel sorry for those who don't understand the system.

I do get slightly annoyed however, with those who open my message but do not respond to it nor go back to their thread to acknowledge the work. I have been known to send an occasional pm asking if the work done for them was helpful but often don't get a reply to that either!!

Maybe we are living in an age where people aren't used to writing thank you notes so don't know what to put - but it isn't rocket science is it???

Thanks Michael.
I'm here first thing as promised.
I really just wanted to point out that outside pressures can sometimes make it impossible to stay on line. I'm fostering an elderly dog (spent nearly the first 10 years of his life in racing kennels!). He has a bit of a weak bladder and suffers with chronic collitis - which both necessitate frequent outings.
GR members have been so good and helped me so much I was a little upset to find I may have offended. I usually say why I am leaving the thread and I hope people will understand.
I'm not on twitter and I'm now going to look to see if anyone has started one on the events in Moscow. What upsetting news.
Regards

Michael, thanks for saying that you regard the person who sent you a PM as a kind soul, as I have done it to many people and wondered if they thought I was interfering. Partly I wanted them to know that people were trying to help them and were being ignored, having started looking I was as keen on the outcome as they were (or not), etc etc.
I regard it as heartbreaking when you sometimes see how much work has been done, and no acknowledgement (even with prompting).
I have even felt like telling the person who is helping to stop, and wait for some feedback, because after a few messages and findings and no response it is time to move on until the postee returns and offers some input.
I do think genes should somehow make clearer that postees will not get messages sent to them automaticallty but will have to return to the board themselves, but I suppose we are all guilty of not reading the instructions.

If your post was directed at me, Michael, I was just making a friendly comment - I'm not into quizzes. Apart from that, I agree with everything everyone has said. :-)

They're getting over-excited, I guess - probably need to chill out and take one branch at a time!

I am not sure if it is worse when people are still online putting on more postings and not acknowledging the responses on the earlier threads they have put on!!
