John & Rebecca McEwan

I am trying to find some information on John & Rebecca McEwan. John was born abt 1818 in Maybole, Ayrshire and married Rebecca Scurr on 27.1 1845 in Edinburgh. They are on 1871 and 1881 Scotland census. On the census some of their children were born in Gibraltar, Ireland and one was born in Buemudie, West Indies (I think this is probably meant to be Bermuda). I would really like to find what took them to the West Indies, I guess it was Johns profession. I have found a John McEwan on 1841 census living with his parents but I am not 100% sure if it is him. |
