Finding Irish Personell who signed up for British

Trying to find where to go to find records of Personell beyond them signing up in there home town.
Only have there last residence in Ireland, want to know how they entered Britain, and what mode of transport. was it aranged by Army.
If anyone can give any advice or assistance it would be welcome.
