Mary Barnes Birth / Marriage/ Death - Preston

I have a birth certificate for my gg grandfather William Barnes bApril 1841 in Preston to Mary Barnes (unmarried) no father.
However, the informant on the BC is George Darwen.
In 1861 William married Mary Marsden and named his father on that cert as George Barnes. I suspect he was simply told his father was George and assumed it was George Barnes.
Mary appears on 1841 Preston census aged 20 (but rounded down so could have been older) with 1 month old William.
George Darwen lived next door.

In 1851 William appears as 9yr old grandson of John Darwen (b.c1796 in Wigan!)
I have been trying to trace any records for Mary , birth, marriage or death
Please can anyone help ?
