We have checked out and established that Mary is the mother of Michael on the 1841 census. Because the names we have fit the family. Yet in 1851 living at 34 Gilbert St just round the corner are Mary and Matthew Milligan and the children all 10 years older give and take the enumerators command of the English language, has listed them as Mulligan. You mentioned you could not trace them on the1871 census maybe thats why because they are listed under Mulligan. I haven't checked this out. What has been confirmed is that Sarah Milligan married John Walsh and lived next door to her mother Catherine in Upper Fredericks St. in 1881. What I can't find is the mother Mary's maiden name. Any pointers please would be helpful. |
