James Mackwell was born 07 Mar 1883, in New North Rd, Rastrick, Halifax, West Yorkshire. James disappeared off the census in 1901 as he went to the Boer war to join his brother Joseph. He liked SA and joined the Canadian Mounties after the war. He later married a Dutch lady called Alice, last seen in 1945 when he visited england, told he had a dress manufacturers in Pretoria , Johannesburg, but I am having difficulty finding a marraige or death of James. |
