Please help

I am trying to find the marriage records for Cecilia Lubbock born 1st June 1863 to Thomas Richardson born c 1853.

The 1911 census shows they have been married 26 years which works out around 1885.
Their eldest child together (also Thomas) was born 1886 so this looks reasonable to me.

The couple were living in Brixton London per the 1886 birth certificate and 1891 census.
Per the1881 census Cecilia was a maid in a house in Hertfordshire. Thomas I believe at that time was a visitor at a house in Berkshire (where I think he was born).

Cecilia was born in Norfolk.

I hope that I have given enough info for you to help me as I cannot find anything at all and wonder if they actually got married?!?

Thanks for this. Cecilia is definately a Lubbock, but maybe she was married briefly before, and hadnt reverted to her previous name - who knows, but the Hexham location doesnt look likely either. I may order that certificate just in case there is something funny there. The brighton one looks even less likely.

She had a son Edwin (or Edward) apparently by someone else before her and Thomas had children. Per 1881 census he was born in 1880 in Kelling Norfolk (and was living with his grandparents in Norfolk at the time of the census) maybe if I could find out his birth record it may give more clues to father's identity and surname.

I agree the locations are all wrong.

There is no marriage for Lubbock / Reed so I doubt it is her.

Perhaps they were just not married but together for 26 years.

What is the name of the child born 1886 that you have the birth cert for ?

I am becoming more certain that they were never married now. Like you say, they may just have been together that long. Thanks for checking out the Reed marriage too.

As for Edwin (Eddie) can I just ask re the parish records as I am not yet familiar with them - that by saying single woman, there is no mention of the father?. Also, even if I find the birth, it sounds likely he may not be mentioned there either!?!?!?

Looking at Edwin makes this more of a mystery :-) Smallburgh I just looked up is in Norfolk so is a possibility, however, there are a lot of Lubbocks from that area - but the timing is right. I think it is definitely a certificate to order - Thx

Do you have the marriage cert. of Edwin?
This usually gives the father's name, if known.
I have someone in my tree that was illegitimate so I thought I would never know who the father was, but when I bought the marriage cert. even though the parents never married, the father's name was actually noted on the cert.
Could be worth a shot?

Ah that's a good idea - I hadnt thought of that. I believe he married Mary Duffield but I havent got a clue yet where, when etc as its only tonight I have started to think more about him. I was just given that info by a family member, not yet checked.
