Edmund Lee my elusive gg grandfather

Thanks to the many people who helped with finding info about Edmund once he was in Australia but no-one is able to find out anything about him before 1847. I don't know which county he was born in and even though he was on the same boat as the Franklins that left from Plymouth to Adelaide in 1846, there is no proof that he actually knew them before the trip.
On his death certificate and marriage certificate there are no parents mentioned.
He died in Melb. in 1888 with a son Frederick who we hadn't heard of till then.
So all I know is Edmund was born approx in 1825 and maybe in Wiltshire. Help!!!!
I will be very appreciative of any ideas!
