I wonder if this could be Elizabeth's birth............surname spelled differently but maybe the registrar mis-heard. |

Ahhh good old Gulson road hospital. It was used during WW2 as an evacuation hospital for military wounded. My Grandad is Scottish and ended up there from Germany, which is how i ended up being born in Cov, he never moved !! |

I'll have to check the church records to see whom the parents are on that birth. The transcriptions might actually be online! |

James' 2nd marriage.... |

This is the son of James & Elizabeth. If you were to purchase his birth certificate this would give you his mothers (Elizabeth b 1848) maiden name. |

Thats some job you're taking on! Didn't Tracey say that she would look up that birth for you when she went to wherever it was she said she was going to......sorry, having a bit of a blank mind. Me, I would pay out for the certificate and take the risk. Lots of luck is wished for you! |

You will need to order as written and I believe that both the register and the certifiate will most likely say Johnston. Bearing in mind that many of our ancestors couldn't read or write, it would have made little difference to them. |
