I have a small 'Active Service' Testament 1917 that I picked up from a second hand book shop some years ago. Inside is written 'Lord Roberts's Message to the Troops' 25th Aug 1914. On the facing page is the name H S Minns 205384 who I've discovered was in the Norfolk Regt and received the Victory Medal.
The book was given to him by Miss Lawrence, The Well House, Crowborough April 7th 1918 and there is a quote from Romans 5:8
On the back page is written Sept 8th 1918 [ then a word that I can't decipher] here in France.
I hope this info may be useful to someone out there .....
