WOWWW!!!!THANK YOU FOR TAKING THE TIME AND DOING THAT!! Is there any way of finding out what nationality the family were??

Hi Alana.
Births registered on "cd" for South Aus. start at 1842.
Cant see a birth registered for a Henry George HEMSON.
This surname could have many variations ....HEMPSON/HENSOM/HANSOM/HANSON.
Have checked early passenger shipping into South Australia ( 1803 - 1853 ) ....but there is no reference to the surname HEMSON
http://www.familyhistorysa.info/
From this link ( above ) you can search for passenger shipping and early South Australia births see:... "Search South Australian births 1836-54" ...HEMSON
Results: The data you entered, HEMSON , is not in this database.
It may pay to purchase the marriage cert of Henry George HEMSON to Annie HILLIER.....to see if his birth place/country is listed.
I will continue to help search for a birth for him......but i have checked 5 states so far ( N.S.W.....VIC.....Q.L.D...TASMANIA....SOUTH AUSTRALIA and found nothing.
Perhaps someone else may find something.
Tony ( Victoria )

Thanks again, I also have checked for the birth cret and it seems to not have been registered either yet, all his brothers and sisters have. All the family were born in Kapunda so I dont think any of them were born overseas. Family members have been told that the family were aboriginal but it wasnt allowed to be spoken of and my great great nanna Alice Bridget Johnson born 29/09/1883as meant to have been with Herbert BUT he was a married man so nothing was recorded. I just really want to know what nationality they were!!
Thank you once again.

This could be Annie Hillier's birth registration
Surname: HILLIER Given Names: Ann Date: 1846-01-24 Sex: F Father: Charles HILLIER Mother: Emily SUTER Birth Place/Residence: Walkerville District Code: Ade Symbol: Book: 1 Page: 142 Cross Reference:

yep thats the one there. Do you know anyway I would be able to find the nationality?
|
Hi Alana.
Sorry, but cannot say where you might find his nationality.
U.K ( England ) records ( I.G.I ) "INTERNATIONAL GENEALOGICAL INDEX" show that there is a surname HEMSON...( Over 240 references to this surname from various counties)
It would be worthwhile to purchase at least the marriage cert.......HEMSON to HILLIER, as this should show where he was born.

I am a bit confused - Thelma May Johnson was Herbert's first wife, yet she was born in 1911? And he had a 2nd wife Emily with whom he had children prior to that date???
I thought Thelma was Herbert's daughter, not his wife?
