My great grandfather Samuel Day/O'Day named his parents on his marriage certificate as George Day and Mary O'Loughlin and said that they lived in Tasmania but I have not found any record of them there in Marriages or Samuel's Birth and I have now been told that Samuel was George's child to a Maori girl and as an infant was taken back to Tasmania on a cattle ship to where George and his and his five or six children lived George was a sailor on ships traveling back and forth between Tasmania and NZ then in about 1959 George and his wife who was a Mary but not O'Loughlin packed up the his family and moved to NZ if any of these names are in your tree in Australia Tasmania or NZ I would love to hear from you Lara in OZ
