I just wish he hadn't kept changing his year of birth, Going by his age on his marriage to Emily it would have been c1855/1856. |

There is always the chance that he wasn't registered. Although it was a legal requirement from 1837 in many cases it was down to the registrar to find and register the births, so of course many were missed. |

The James Garratt with Lucy in 1881 is still married to her in 1901 - so rule them out. |
