Terry Report 24 Jun 2009 22:30

My surname is FARR and I can trace my ancestors to the mid 1700's in Surrey England. About 4 years ago I had my DNA tested and joined the FARR DNA surname group. I have not had any matches to the FARR surname.
About 3 month ago I was notified of a very close DNA match to a person living in America, their surname is FARRAR.
I have now found matches to another 5 people connected to the FARRAR family living in America.
The American FARRAR ancestor went to Virginia America in 1618 .Sometime between the early 1600's and early 1700's my surname was shortened to FARR.
My message to anybody reading this post is please consider using DNA to trace your Ancestors
