Can you come up trumps agaIn?
My great grandad John Cosby bn Portsmouth c1861, died in Bury St Edmunds Suffolk. Date unknown, but all I can say it would have been after 1940. Why do know 1940, because he got his son to change his name from Arthur Cosby (bn 1890-1942) altered to Rouse Cosby, so I presume John Cosby became Rouse Cosby somewhere along the line, why , I dont know. Hard this one, but I would like to get Johns death certificate

Odd this but there is only 1 death in suffolk between 1916-2005 for surname COSBY & it is not john.

No death coming up in Suffolk and I have tried just using the surname.....there is one in 1942 which would fit in with his approximate birth year of 1861 however this is in Bury,Lancashire. How sure are you regarding Suffolk?

On the 1901 census his birthdate is 1861 on the 1911 it is 1856

so probably his birth registration

Wow what a response. I am told he died in Bury St Edmunds, well that what my Mum was told, what do I do now, the family is either now gone or too long in the teeth, or wont talk to each other.
He was married to ANNIE SIMMONS bn 1864 Crediton, so it could be the same person.

Thought i might as well post the one lesley mentioned, Just incase the story over the years got a bit mixed up & he died in BURY not bury st edmonds.

She gives Torquay on the 1911 so this could be her. Can't locate a marriage for them though.

Torquay and Crediton are nowhere near each other.

Was Annie Simmons a widow when she married him? There's one on the 1901 who seems to be alone even though she says wife, and born Tiverton which is near Crediton.

When were they married, do you know?
