My Grandfather on my mothers side was a William Challen born circa 1888. (d.o.b.24.03.1888). I know that he was in the Navy, probably from a young age and was a 'Stoker', we believe he served on HM Ships Commonwealth and Diligence both before WW1. He married in North Devon and had 4 children but unfortunately dissappeared around 1928ish. I now believe he may have died in 1969 in Suffolk in the previously named district of Samford. Does anyone have any information please? |
