Thanks to everyone for their help re: Sarah but I am still struggling to find any trace of her husband, John Brown Calder b1869. I have checked freebmd, military and overseas deaths and census. Could anyone please point me in the right direction??? I really would appreciate the help. |

Really struggling to find this family in 1911, a pity as it often gives very useful info. Sarah is married rather than a widow 1901, or so it says anyway! |

On freebmd, you only need to put in the name when searching |

I can't see them in 1911, either............ |

At some point I think they moved to Scotland as their daughter Elizabeth had her children, (Margaret and John), in Kirkaldy and their son John, (so many Johns!!), was a Private in the 1/7th Black Watch and was killed in action in France in 1917 |

Well, you have two options then. Firstly the Scottish 1911 census is out next month. Secondly you can search for death on Scotland's People site (pay per view). |
