If anyone knows any thing about my family name, it would be great to hear from you. The name Bickley comes from my dad who originates from Devon. (Newton Abbot) His great great grandad was called Edwin. Edwin had a son in 1872 called William Charles Bickley. William had four sons and one of these was my grandad. (Leonard John Bickley) Leonard had a son (my dad) and called him David William Bickley. When my dad was small I think that his family ran a pub in Heneck. I may have spelt that wrong. He loved it in Devon and still loves Dartmoor today. In fact we are having a gathering of the clan next year to cellebrate my mum and dads 40th wedding anniversary. Some of his family still live there, and up unntil a few years ago hi cousin managed one of the most popular pubs in Newton Abbot. I think it's called the Courteny Arms. His cousin is called Collin and his mum was called Winifred. Any information would be welcome. |
